The Lake Street Dwelling is located on West Lake Street & Harriet Avenue in Minneapolis, MN. This building complex was designed with a strict budget to ensure the space included was affordable for the users of the space. The Lupe Development built 111 budget-friendly residential units that would be affordable, which came to be 30-60 percent of the area median income. Nine of the 111 residential units are targeted for homeless veterans. Over 1,000 square feet of the building is commercial space.

As interior designers in this group project, my partner and I designed the spaces to reflect the modern aesthetic of the architecture. The public restrooms, lobby entry, corridors, and elevator area were designed with accessibility and a strict budget in mind to create a communal space that many could afford. This mixed use building welcomes new faces and houses those who dream of city living.
